Summary

This is the second in a fascinating new mystery series. Suzie Fewings, a keen family history researcher, is delighted to be given access to the document chest at Hereward Court. She tries to ignore disturbing rumours about the owner, Floridus Hereward. She and her husband Nick are horrified when their son Tom and his friend break into Hereward Court to find evidence. Alianor Hereward is still apparently eager to help unravel her family tree, but Suzie receives threats from a sinister visitor to the house. Tom's friend, an African refugee, is in particular danger. Suzie's daughter Millie is threatened. The police are bafflingly unhelpful. As the violence spreads beyond this West Country village, can the Fewings prevent something more explosive happening? And what will be the cost to themselves?
