This is the third volume in Janet Frame's autobiography. In it the New Zealand novelist tells how, following the nightmare of her years in mental hospitals and the publication of her first book in New Zealand, she left home to embark on a journey to Europe. She dreamt of Bitish publication with pale poets in Soho and found love in an artists' colony in Ibiza. The book also tells of her return to London and the publication of her first novel.
