Leonie Lord studied Illustration at Central St Martins College, London. After graduating, she produced regular editorial work for newspapers but she discovered her love of illustrating children's books after starting a family. The Dirty Great Dinosaur was her first illustrated book for children followed by its sequel The Super Swooper Dinosaur (both by Martin Waddell). Leonie's adorable character Whiffy Wilson (written by Caryl Hart) tells the tale of a stinky wolf who learns that grime is a crime. Leonie lives just outside Cheltenham with her husband and two children.
