The below are evaluations of ORTO from which this content is drawn: TEEM Evaluations: This is an excellent site with well thought out Literacy activities for children in Early Years and Key Stage 1. Use of Shock technology works well and makes the site truly accessible for the younger child. Thought has gone into linking the activities to NLS guidelines, making it a valuable resource in the classroom. This is an excellent website containing some lovely activities for delivering the National Literacy Strategy to Reception age children (as well as other Key Stage 1 age groups). It also contains activities, which support the ICT Curriculum as well and, as a bonus, spells out exactly which parts of both are being covered! In addition, there is a section that encourages children to submit information in various forms and so become very involved with the site. The 'Teacher Support' section contains some extremely useful resources and information. Winner Internation EMMA (Electronic Multimedia Awards) - Judges comments: The wide range of stories and activities provides ample opportunity for a child to engage in a different experience each time. It is very engaging and above all makes learning fun. The design appeals to both girls and boys alike and is extremely easy to use. The teacher support is excellent, the curriculum mapping and the ease in which they can set up lessons are impressive.
