Summary

Guilty until proven innocent. Miranda Wood has been having an affair with her boss. She's determined to break it off with him - but he's equally determined to keep her. When he calls and tells her that he's coming over, Miranda flees her house, desperate not to see him. She comes back to a dark, cold cottage - and a dead man lying in her bedroom.Miranda is the obvious suspect, and she looks even guiltier when her bail is paid by an anonymous donor. Chase Tremain just wants to find out who killed his brother - but as a series of attacks on Miranda take place, he is also drawn to protect her. They join forces to investigate the story that Richard was working on at the time of his death and discover a corruption scandal looming over a new development on the island.Although Miranda and Chase trace the money at the heart of this scandal back to Richard's father-in-law and wife, it becomes clear that someone else wants to kill Miranda - someone with a much more personal reason for wanting her out of the way...
