We all have to meet our match sometime or other.
Featuring a brand new foreword from Madeline Miller, author of The Song of Achilles, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of this beloved classic of children's literature.
When Fiver, a young rabbit, has a vision of something terrible happening to his warren, he knows he has to act. Together with his brother Hazel, they leave immediately and lead a small band of rabbits on a search for a new home. The long and perilous journey eventually takes them to Watership Down, but here they face their most difficult challenge of all...
Watership Down began as a story for Richard Adams' daughters and became one of the most epic, famous and loved animal stories of all time.

Richard Adams (Author)
Richard Adams grew up in Berkshire, the son of a country doctor. After an education at Oxford, he spent six years in the army and then went into the Civil Service. He originally began telling the story of Watership Down to his two daughters and they insisted he publish it as a book. It quickly became a huge success with both children and adults, and won the Guardian Children's Fiction Award and the Carnegie Medal in 1972. Richard Adams wrote many novels and short stories, including Shardik and The Plague Dogs. He died in 2016, aged 96.
